PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire suppressing the generation of cracks on the groove bottom of a circumferential direction groove or the partial wear of a groove opening portion by suppressing diameter growth at the circumferential direction groove position. SOLUTION: The tire 1 comprises a carcass 2, a belt reinforcing layer 4 rubber coating cord extending in a tire circumferential direction while bending in a wave shape or in zigzags, a belt 7 forming an intersecting belt layer 6 by a first belt layer 5a and a second belt layer 5b adjacent to the first belt layer 5a, and a tread portion 9 arranging the circumferential groove extending along a tire equator surface at least in both shoulder areas S. The cord structuring the intersecting belt layer 6 extends while tilting at angle of 10 to 35°in regard to the tire equator surface E. On a tire width direction cross section, the belt reinforcing layer 4 is arranged at least in an area having a width W1 narrower than the width W2 of the belt and including a position immediately below the circumferential direction groove 8 arranged in the shoulder area S.
