COLORING COMPOSITION FOR COLOR FILTER AND COLOR FILTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition for a color filter having excellent dispersion stability and in particular, having high storage stability or the like.

SOLUTION: The coloring composition for a color filter contains: a pigment carrier comprising a transparent resin, its precursor or a mixture of these; an organic pigment; and a pigment dispersant comprising a quinoline derivative expressed by general formula (1) or (2) or its amine salt or metal salt. A color filter having a filter segment made of the above color composition is also disclosed. In the formulae, X represents a halogen atom of chlorine, bromine or iodine and each of n and m is independently an integer of 0 to 4 representing the number of substituted halogen atoms.
