Adjuster for cutters for bars being fed to a forging machine has a movable carriage (51) on the machine frame (3). This carries a stopper (521) which is positioned against the end of the bar (20) to hold it in the correct position under the cutter blade (4). The carriage is fitted with a hydraulic lock (7) which fixes it in position on the frame.
