A mobile communication terminal for video communication and a power-saving method thereof are provided to set register setup values of an image sensor differently in power-saving mode and in general mode, thereby reducing currents consumed for driving a camera and peripheral circuits of the camera. An image sensor(120) converts an optical signal of an object into an electric signal based on setup values of at least one register, and converts the electric signal into a digital video signal. A video processor(130) compresses/encodes the digital video signal to output the compressed/encoded signal as a video communication video signal. When a power-saving mode is set, a camera controller(140) changes the at least one register setup value into power-saving register setup values to replace the at least one register setup value. |
