A catheter housing and protection pouch 10 is attachable to an animal such as a horse by a plurality of loops 201, 20b, 20c, extensions or suture wings, and in particular loops or extensions which may be intertwined with the horse's mane 42 to hold the pouch to the horse. The pouch has a closable flap 30 to allow the end 12 of the catheter to be placed within or removed from the pouch and for the catheter tube 14 to extend out of the pouch.
