PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform printing up to an end part of printing paper without allowing an ink drop to impact on a platen. SOLUTION: In this invention, an area R for delivering the ink drop for forming an image is set by going over the end of the printing paper P. Respective picture elements of an outer upper end part Rfp set by going over the upper end Pf are recorded only by a nozzle opposed to a downstream side groove part of the platen. An inner upper end part Rfq positioned on the downstream side of the outer upper end part Rfp is also recorded only by the nozzle opposed to the downstream side groove part. When recording a dot, even when the printing paper P is dislocated from a supposed position, as long as the upper end of the printing paper P exists in the outer upper end part Rfp or the inner upper end part Rfq, a margin is neither formed in an end part of the printing paper, and the ink drop is nor landed on the platen. These outer upper end part Rfp and inner upper end part Rfq are set so that a dimension in the sub-scanning direction becomes the substantially same, even if recording density and a recording method of an image are different, if a dimension and a construction material of the printing paper for forming the image are the same.
