Provided is a display device having a display section wherein light emitting elements, which spontaneously emit light in accordance with a current quantity, are arranged in matrix. The display device is provided with an adjustment signal generating section, which generates an adjustment signal for adjusting actual duty that specifies an emission time for having the light emitting element emit light per unit time; an emission time setting section, which sets an upper limit value to an actual duty to be set, and sets the actual duty at the upper limit value or below so as to limit the total emission quantity of light emitted by the light emitting elements of the display section per unit time in accordance with video information of an inputted video signal; and an upper limit value setting section for changing the upper limit value of the emission time setting section based on operation, in accordance with the adjustment signal outputted from the adjustment signal generating section.
