A file is produced in page description language and barcode within region of file is described to make region unambiguously identifiable by using identification elements. The file is stored on storage medium and is re-opened with computer. The region of file is identified using identification elements, and barcode is accessed to make changes to individual parameters. A region with changed content is produced within file using changed parameters. The substrate is imaged based on the file and barcode is produced in the image region, while taking changed parameters into account. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) data carrier comprising computer program for imaging substrate; and (2) apparatus for imaging substrate.
