<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bulk amorphous metal magnetic component composed of a plurality of layers of ferromagnetic amorphous metal strips and, because of its low iron loss, is especially suitable for applications where high frequency magnetic excitation is taken place. <P>SOLUTION: The bulk amorphous metal magnetic component 10 has a plurality of ferromagnetic amorphous metal strips bonded together, and is formed by stamping, stacking, and bonding. The bulk amorphous metal magnetic component may include two arcuate surfaces that are disposed opposite each other. The magnetic component may be operable at frequencies ranging between approximately 50 Hz and 20,000 Hz. When the component is excited at an excitation frequency "f" to a peak induction level "B<SB>max</SB>", it may exhibit an iron loss less than "L", wherein "L" is given by the formula L=0.0074f(B<SB>max</SB>)<SP>1.3</SP>+0.000282f<SP>1.5</SP>(B<SB>max</SB>)<SP>2.4</SP>, and the iron loss, the excitation frequency, and the peak induction level are measured in W/kg, Hz, and T, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
