Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to transmitting sideband data with video data. In some example embodiments, a method is proposed. The method includes downsampling digital samples representing raw sideband data for a video. The method also includes generating first sideband data based on the downsampled digital samples, and generating a first frame for the video, the first frame at least including first video data for the video and the first sideband data. The method further includes transmitting to a further device the first video data and the first sideband data during a first active data period for the first frame, the first active data period being different from a first blanking period for the first frame.
