PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder head capable of preventing generation of cracks by reducing the temperature and thermal stress of a lower surface of the cylinder head. SOLUTION: This cylinder head for an internal combustion engine has a combustion surface 12 which is provided on the lower surface 11 of the cylinder head 10 and sections a combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine, four valve holes 13 and 15 for intake or exhaust opened on the combustion surface 12, a mounting hole 17, which is provided at the center part of the combustion surface 12, or a region surrounded by the valve holes 13 and 15 and is for mounting a fuel injection nozzle and an ignition plug, and a recessed part 19 which is formed so as to be recessed in a thickness direction including the mounting hole 17 in the surrounding part of the mounting hole 17.
