摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a controller for motor generator wherein a field current limit value is made different between in the low-rotational speed range at the time of power generation and in the high-rotational speed range, and thus design freedom can be enhanced; and Ifg at the time of power generation when the temperature is high is made lower than Ifm at the time of motor operation, and thus safety is ensured even if continuous operation is performed. <P>SOLUTION: The controller is for motor generators that are so designed as to start an engine and generate power when the relevant vehicle is running. The field current limit value Ifm at the time of motor operation when starting the engine is greater than the field current limit value Ifg at the time of power generation. For power generation, an inverter mode for the low-rotational speed range in which voltage is stepped up and driving is carried out and an alternator mode for the high-rotational speed range in which voltage is not stepped up and generated voltage is rectified and output are provided. The field current limit value Ifgi at the time of power generation in an inverter mode and the field current limit value Ifga at the time of power generation in the alternator mode are so set that they are different from each other.
