A toy with a bar code reader formed in a simple structure and capable of providing detection accuracy requested for the toy, wherein a guide member (57) extending parallel with an opening part (41) in a movable member (37) stored in the reader body of the bar code reader. A bar code sensor holder (59) holding a bar code sensor is slidably installed on the guide member (57). The bar code reader comprises a rotating link (61) having one end rotated about the rotating center axis (65) thereof and the other end slidably connected to the bar code sensor holder (59). The rotating link (61) is rotated by utilizing the energizing force of a first spring (67) to move the bar code sensor holder (59) from one end to the other end of the opening part (41). By utilizing the energizing force of a second spring (70), the rotating link (61) is reversely rotated about the rotating center axis (65) to return the bar code sensor holder (59) from the other end to one end of the opening part (41). |
