There is disclosed a wood chipper with draw-in rollers (7) for drawing in wood (9) against a rotor disc (2) with at least one cutter (2), the edge (4) of which being provided spaced apart from the surface (5) of the rotor disc. Furthermore, the wood chipper includes a control unit (13) and means (24, 26) for monitoring the rotational speed of the draw-in rollers and the rotational speed of the rotor disc, respectively. The control unit is adapted for coordinating the drawing speed and the rotational speed of the cutters.
