PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus which can ensure an operating space for replacing a recording head, and can easily perform a replacing operation by providing a recording module movably from an internal part of the image recording apparatus to an external part or from the external part to the internal part when the recording module at least equipped with a plurality of recording heads or a line head consisting of one longitudinal recording head is interchanged. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus is equipped with a conveying mechanism 12 for conveying a recording medium, at least one recording head 3 oppositely arranged to the conveying mechanism, delivering ink from an ink delivering face, to perform image recording on a recording medium, a holding member 4 for holding a recording head, and a fitting member 5 for movably fitting the holding member in the width direction of the recording medium intercepting at right angles the conveying direction of the recording medium from a storing position performing image recording to a non-storing position which does not perform image recording.
