摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manual wheelchair assisting mechanism clear of a traveling resistance by the assisting mechanism at the time of non-assisting. SOLUTION: A five-joint link mechanism has a motor rotating shaft, a following rotating shaft 3, a motor side rubber roller shaft 4, a following side rubber roller shaft 5 and a pin 6 combined by a link. By the five-joint link mechanism, two rubber rollers 28 and 29 which transmit an assisting power and a braking force to a wheelchair tire 31 are made movable. By electrically controlling the position of the pin 6, a state that the two rubber rollers 28 and 29 are in contact with the wheelchair tire 31, and a state in which the two rubber rollers 28 and 29 are away from the wheelchair tire 31 are switched. By separating the two rubber rollers 28 and 29 from the wheelchair tire 31 at the time of non-assisting, the traveling resistance by the assisting mechanism is eliminated. The assisting mechanism for which the motor 2 being equipped with an electric brake 30 is made the power source is attached to a manual wheelchair under the configuration that the right and left wheels of the wheelchair can be independently controlled. Thus, not only the power assisting but also the reverse traveling prevention on an uphill road, and the maximum speed limitation for a downhill road are performed to assist the traveling of the manual wheelchair.
