PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of attaining enhancement of sealing performance of a seal and maintaining bearing performance over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A metal ring 16 slide-contacted with a side lip 15b of a backup seal 13 is formed from a rust-proofing treated austenite stainless steel plate (SUS304 system of JIS or the like) or a rust-proofing treated cold rolling steel plate (SPCC system of JIS or the like) by press working, and is fixed to a wheel mounting flange 6 by a hub bolt 6a in the clamped state. The metal ring 16 is formed to a circular plate shape as a whole, and bolt insertion holes are concentrically, equally arranged and bored at six positions.
