PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a printing position without a shift occurring in the printing position of a printing medium even if float-like distortion occurs in the printing medium during its delivery in a printing apparatus for printing an image using a plurality of printing heads. SOLUTION: Configurations 11-14 for detecting the delivery rate of the printing medium and configurations 101-107 for adjusting driving timing at which each of a plurality of printing heads discharge ink according to the obtained delivery rate are provided in the printing apparatus. Thereby, even if float-like distortion occurs in the printing medium during its delivery, the printing position can be controlled without causing a shift in the printing position of the printing medium.
