PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device, with which the completion of bookbinding with neither unevenness nor wrinkles nor warpage can be possible at the formation of a back folding and a continuous sheet bundle can be bookbindingly processed at high speed. SOLUTION: This bookbinding device is equipped with a bookbinding course, in which a sheet bundle is transferred to an adhesive coating position and a cover stitching position in the order named, and an adhesive coating means, which is arranged at the adhesive coating position and makes an adhesive coat the back stitching end face of he sheet bundle and a cover transporting course, which intersects with the bookbinding course and keeps a cover sheet transported to the cover stitching position, and a cover stitching means, which is arranged at the cover stitching position and keeps the sheet bundle and the cove sheet stitched together. The cover stitching means is equipped with a back folding pressing means for forming the back-folded cover sheet. The back folding pressing means comprises a pair of accessible and separable back folding pressing means arranged on both the sides of the cover stitching position of the cover transporting course under the condition that a heating means is provided in at least either one of the back folding pressing members.
