PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that can be manufactured by a simple method, for avoiding depolarization of a piezoelectric transducer by producing high-pressure ultrasonic pulses without producing a preceding extension wave. SOLUTION: A device for producing high pressure ultrasonic pulses comprises a piezoelectric transducer (2) provided with electrodes (3) and having a polarization direction (f1), and means (4) for applying an electric voltage on the electrodes (3) of the ultrasonic transducer (2), wherein an electric field is applied in a direction (f2) opposite to the polarization direction (f1) and a transitory electric field is then applied in the same direction as the polarization direction (f1) to cause a compression ultrasound wave to be emitted in a coupling medium.
