<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press-forming apparatus used for a method for more efficiently manufacturing a magnet powder compact than before by using a pulse magnetic field. <P>SOLUTION: The press-forming apparatus comprises a die 20 having a through hole for forming a cavity, a die plate 30 having an opening part to house at least an upper end of the die 20 and disposed to form a substantially flush surface with an upper end face of the die 20, an upper punch 10A and a lower punch 10B to press magnet powder filled into the cavity, and a magnetic field generator 40 to apply the pulse magnetic field to the magnet powder in the cavity. The die plate 30 is formed of an insulator, and an upper surface thereof is smooth.
