PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical vacuum cleaner improving user-friendliness. SOLUTION: The vertical vacuum cleaner is provided with a main body part 4 having an electric blower 2 inside, an inlet body 5 disposed below the body part 4, an extension pipe 6 having a handle part 8 to be handled by a user and attachably/detachably provided on the body part 4, a stretchable/contractible connection hose 7 for connecting the pipe 6 with the body part 4, a power cord 14 extending from the body part 4 and a retaining part 20 fixed to the hose 7 to retain the cord 14.
