An apparatus for controlling a focus and a method thereof are provided to control the focus in a bad condition while fitting the focus with two images rapidly. An apparatus for controlling a focus comprises the followings: a distance calculation module(220) calculating focus distance from blur levels of at least two or over images by using a multilayer neural network; a precision distance calculation module(230) calculating the distance to a correct subject in case the focus of the obtained image is not correct; and a distance calculation correction module(240) amending the distance calculation module by amending a coefficient of the multilayer neural network.
