PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fabricating carbon fiber-reinforced composite material parts in which at least a part has high density by a matrix according to a CVI (chemical vapor infiltration) type process.
SOLUTION: A coherent fiber preform made of carbon fibers has holes formed from at least a first face of the preform, and the preform has high density by depositing therein a material constituting a matrix by means of a chemical vapor infiltration type process. The holes are formed by simultaneously inserting a plurality of non-rotary elongate tools, wherein the tools are substantially mutually parallel and have on their surfaces roughnesses or portions in relief suitable for breaking and/or transferring fibers they encounter, and the tools are simultaneously inserted by moving a support carrying the tools, and the tools are selected to have a cross-section that makes it possible to obtain holes having a cross-section with a mean size lying in the range of 50-500 μm in the carbon fiber preform.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
