A multilevel converter is provided with a first arm (A1) connected between a positive voltage terminal (3a) and an AC terminal (3c) and a second arm (A4) connected between the AC terminal (3c) and a negative voltage terminal (3b), wherein the first and second arms (A1, A4) each include a plurality of unit cells (10) connected in cascade. Each of the unit cells (10) has a capacitor (C) to be charged to a DC voltage and outputs the voltage between the terminals of the capacitor (C) or 0 V. The unit cells (10) are spirally connected in cascade to form a reactor (11). |
