A data recording and/or reproducing method for performing a trick play in a digital video tape recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and/or reproducing an advanced television (ATV) signal is performed such that the data area of a sync block each forming audio sector and video sector in a track is divided into a first area and a second area to record and reproduce normal-play data and trick-play data for a normal play and a trick play, respectively.
