PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas sensor by which a detection signal at a high-level specific gas concentration can be detected by a method wherein one pair of electrodes of a second oxygen ion pump cell are arranged in a second measuring chamber. SOLUTION: A detected gas is introduced into a first measuring chamber 2 via a first diffused resistor 1, and a first ion pump cell 6 controls the concentration of oxygen in the gas introduced into the first measuring chamber 2. Then, the gas is introduced into a second measuring chamber 4 via a second diffused resistor 3 from the first measuring chamber 2, and a current according to a specific gas concentration flows, via an oxygen ion conductor, across one pair of voltage-applied electrodes 8a, 8b of a second oxygen ion pump cell 8. Both the pair of electrodes 8a, 8b of the second oxygen ion pump cell 8 are arranged inside of the second measuring chamber 4. As a result, oxygen which is pumped out by the second oxygen ion pump cell 8 is returned wholly to the second measuring chamber 4. Thereby, the amount of oxygen ions which decide the amount of the current flowing to the second oxygen ion pump cell 8 is increased, and a current value, i.e., a sensor output, is increased. |
