PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit to be manufactured by a manufacturing device which is not a large-scale device. SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit (10) provided with a tensile strength body (12) located at the center, a plurality of optical fibers (14) arranged around the body (12) in a twisted state and fixed by a filler (18) and a coat (16) arranged on the outer periphery is used for an optical submarine cable. Each of the optical fibers has an alternate twisting direction consisting of a clockwise twisting direction and a counterclockwise twisting direction when the unit 10 is observed in the axial direction.
