PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical module reduced in axial shift and having high fixing reliability, and a method for assembling the module. SOLUTION: In the optical module 10 including a pair of optical parts 11, 12 which are integrally fixed, both the optical parts 11, 12 are aligned for all necessary aligning axes and fixed through a junction component 13 having a shape capable of securing junction areas with respective optical parts 11, 12 and thinning junction layers. Since both the optical parts 11, 12 are aligned for all the necessary aligning axes, the optical axes are sufficiently aligned. Since a junction component having a shape capable of securing junction areas with respective optical parts and thinning junction layers can be adopted, the shape is simple and highly accurate processing requiring a rigid dimensional tolerance is made unnecessary. Since the junction areas of respective junction parts between respective optical parts 11, 12 and the junction component 13 are secured and the junction layers are thinned, the fixing reliability can be improved.
