PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoelectric conversion device 1 which can suppress the generation and/or the development of cracks between electrode layers 5 and barrier layers 6, even if used under severe heat conditions, and can furthermore suppress a change in resistance value to improve reliability. SOLUTION: The thermoelectric conversion device 1 is equipped with a first base 2 arranged relatively on a high temperature side, a second base 3 arranged relatively on a low temperature side, a thermoelectric member 4 arranged between the first and the second bases 2, 3 and using a thermocouple material as a base material, and the electrode layers 5 and the barrier layers 6 arranged toward the thermoelectric member 4 in order from the first and the second bases 2, 3, respectively. In at least the first base 2 side in the first base 2 side and the second base 3 side, the electrode layers 5 and the barrier layers 6 are formed of a combination of materials which suppress the generation of tensile stress caused by thermal expansion between the electrode layers 5 and the barrier layers 6.
