PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of isomerization, inhibiting the production of decomposed products and capable of improving isomer yield in the reaction of isomerizing linear chain state hydrocarbons contained in a raw material hydrocarbon. SOLUTION: This method for isomerizing the linear chain state hydrocarbons capable of obtaining isomerized products is provided by bringing a solid acid catalyst obtained by loading tungstenic acid and a metal of the group VIII of the Periodic table on a carrier of a complex oxide consisting of titanium oxide and at least≥1 kind inorganic oxide in contact with the raw material hydrocarbon containing≥95 mass% of≥9C hydrocarbons in the presence of hydrogen.
