PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the shape of an intracavitary probe before insertion into a body cavity of a living body. SOLUTION: The distal end part 12 of the transesophageal probe to be inserted into the body cavity of the living body has an ultrasonic transmission/receiving part 20 for transmitting/receiving ultrasonic waves into the living body, and a flexible plastic part 22 which is disposed in the front in the direction of insertion of the ultrasonic transmission/receiving part 20 and in which a line of pieces 78 capable of retaining the flexible state are stored. Since the plastic part 22 has the characteristic of retaining its own shape, the plastic part 22 can be molded beforehand if, for example, the distal end is inserted into the body cavity.
