The present invention enables the bending curvature of a caterpillar-type exterior material to be reduced as much as possible. This exterior member has a configuration wherein: first members and second members having U-shaped cross-sections are provided, each of said members comprising an upper wall and a lower wall which continue from the top and bottom ends of a vertical wall; notches are provided on the first members and second members at intervals in a length direction, each of said notches continuing into an L-shape from the bottom end of the vertical wall toward the tip of the upper wall; thin-walled hinge parts are provided on the lower walls of the first members and second members at positions facing the notches of the upper walls; and the lower walls of the first members and second members are connected together in a bendable manner using both end sections thereof located across the hinge parts. The vertical walls of the first members and second members are arranged so as to face each other, the lower surfaces of the upper walls of the first members are placed on top of the upper walls of the second members, and the lower walls of the second members are placed on top of the upper surfaces of the lower walls of the first members, whereby the exterior member is assembled into a square cylindrical shape from the first and second members. |
