A method and apparatus for displaying an application and a picture, and an electronic device, which relate to the technical field of electronic information, and can avoid the leakage of privacy information about an owner user, thus reducing the information security risk of an electronic device. The method for displaying an application comprises: receiving a touch operation (101); acquiring second fingerprint information from the touch operation (102); matching the second fingerprint information with first fingerprint information (103); and displaying a first application in an application switcher interface when the second fingerprint information matches the first fingerprint information (104). The method for displaying a picture comprises: receiving a touch operation (201); acquiring second fingerprint information from the touch operation (202); matching the second fingerprint information with first fingerprint information (203); and displaying a second picture when the second fingerprint information matches the first fingerprint information (204). The solution is applicable to the situation where an electronic device displays an application or a picture that may contain user privacy information.
