PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder that is able to improve the durability of a paper feed roller.SOLUTION: A paper feeder comprises: a paper placing plate 220 on which paper P is placed and which is vertically swingable; a paper feed roller 210 swingable between a contact position where the roller comes into contact with the paper P on the paper placing plate 220 and a retreat position where the roller retreats from the paper P; an urging member that urges the paper placing plate 220 upwards; a contact part 140 that, when the paper placing plate 220 is lifted, comes into contact with the paper P on the paper placing plate 220 and stops the paper placing plate 220; a moving member (paper feed roller 210) that moves the paper placing plate 220 such that, after the paper P on the paper placing plate 220 comes into contact with the contact part 140, the paper P is lowered to the paper feed position; and a paper feed roller swing mechanism 400 that retreats the paper feed roller 210 to a retreat position when the paper placing plate 220 is lifted, and that brings the paper feed roller 210 closer to the paper placing plate 220 after the paper P placed on the paper placing plate 220 comes into contact with the contact part 140.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12 |
