A photographic camera and image transforming system 70 comprising: a photographic camera including: a body; a housing 17,18 disposed on the camera body for housing a photographic film 1; exposing means 7 disposed on the camera body for exposing an image onto the photographic film 1; and a selector switch 6 operable by a user to select a desired aspect ratio, and recording means for magnetically or optically recording on a marginal edge of the photographic film 1 an aspect signal 12a determined in response to a signal from the selector switch 6, and an image transforming system 70 for transforming an image from a processed photographic film 1 recorded using the photographic camera, the image storage system 70 including: image transforming means 89, 90, 96-100 for transforming the image on the processed photographic film into an image signal; detecting means 155, 156, 114 for detecting the aspect signal 12a magnetically or optically recorded on the processed photographic film 1; and data transforming means 110, 114 for transforming the data type of the image signal to form a transformed image signal.
