PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a signal processing method which is simple in configuration without the need of excessive redundant bits with low decoding error ratio is required. SOLUTION: RLL encoding to user data inputted in an input terminal 1 (512 Bytes + additional data) is carried out by an RLL encoding apparatus_1 (10). This RLL encoded_1 data is inputted in a symbol error correction encoding apparatus 20 and RS encoding to a 9-bits symbol is carried out. RLL encoding of the data of this RS encoded part is carried out by an RLL encoding apparatus_2 (15). RLL decoding to an RS code in a reproduction data from a magnetic disk 60 is carried out by an RLL decoding apparatus_2 (115). Correction of code errors in this signal such as a random error generated in recording and reproducing and a burst error caused by defects are carried out by a symbol error correction decoding apparatus 120.
