The separating element for filtering units, consists of filter elements (1), which have an elastic membrane (3) present at a support plate (4) of the filter elements, and filter chambers (2) formed between the separating element and the filter element. The membrane is mounted or formed at an edge strip (5) closing the support plate. The two filter elements are edge-laterally joined together with the separating element inserted between them along its edge strip. An inlet opening flows into the filter chambers for the suspension, which can be filtered, supplied over the separating element. The collecting element is implemented in plate-like manner. A guiding device, which is led at an edge angle of the openings and which embraces the end side of the openings, is movably held at the clamping plate. The opening of the clamping plate has a small cross section than the inlet opening of the separating element. An independent claim is included for a filtering unit with a separating element.
