<p>A flash memory system and a method for managing the same are provided to restrain merge action even though data are frequently updated, thereby reducing frequency of merge action, improving performance of the flash memory system, and prevent lifespan of a flash memory from being shortened. A flash memory system(20) includes a host(21), a flash memory(222), and a flash memory controller(221). The host outputs updated data. If it is judged that specific data are frequently updated relatively to other data, the host creates and outputs a flag showing that the specific data are frequently updated. The flash memory controller receives the data and the flag from the host, defines a part of the flash memory into a first log block and a second log block where merge action is generated less frequently than in the first log block. The flash memory controller assigns the received data to the first log block or the second log block according to the flag.</p> |
