PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a junction type surface-mounting oscillator for suppressing displacement between a crystal resonator and a packaging substrate. SOLUTION: The junction type crystal oscillator for surface mounting is provided with a crystal resonator 1 in which a crystal piece is housed in a case body 3 having external terminals 6 at four corners of the bottom surface and hermetically sealed, and a packaging substrate 2 in which junction terminals are provided at the four corners on the top surface corresponding to the external terminals 6 and an IC chip 8 is housed, wherein the external terminals 6 of the crystal resonator 1 are joined to the junction terminals of the packaging substrate 2 via solders 11. The crystal oscillator has a configuration in which the external terminals 6 at the four corners of the crystal resonator 1 are made thicker to form protrusions, groove portions 13 are provided at four corners of an opening end surface as the top surface of the packaging substrate 2, junction terminals are each formed by printing etc. on the bottom surface and internal circumferential side surface of each of the groove portions 13, the protrusions of the crystal resonator 1 by the external terminals 6 are fitted on the groove portions 13 of the packaging substrate 2 having the junction terminals via the solder 11 and the external terminals 6 are joined to the junction terminals.
