The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for improving fuel efficiency of a vehicle using a navigation. More specifically, the apparatus for improving fuel efficiency of a vehicle using a navigation, comprises: a GPS part which checks a current position of a vehicle, and finds a specific position; a collision preventing part which determines a safety distance from a car ahead; and a control part which measures a distance from a vehicle and checks whether the distance is appropriate after finding the specific position from the GPS part, checks a proper speed range of the vehicle for passing the specific position, passes the specific position by putting a gear of the vehicle in neutral and driving a certain distance if the conditions are all satisfied, checks a current position of the vehicle from the GPS, and puts the gear of the vehicle in drive if determined that the specific position is passed. Thus, a vehicle position can be recognized using the navigation, a vehicle speed can stably be controlled at a certain position, and fuel efficiency can effectively be reduced. |
