An auxiliary drive system including a transmission which is connectable to a prime mover and produces an output torque for driving a driveshaft, the transmission having at least first and second power takeoffs, a pump in fluid communication with a hydraulic motor, the hydraulic motor operably connected to the second power takeoff and in fluid communication with the hydraulic pump, a control valve to vary flow rate to the hydraulic motor, the second power takeoff driving a driveshaft operably connected to the transmission.

1. An auxiliary drive system, comprising:
a transmission having a housing containing a plurality of gears and further having at least first and second power takeoffs at said housing; a hydraulic pump connected to and driven by said first power takeoff of said transmission, said pump producing flow and being in fluid communication with a hydraulic motor; said hydraulic motor operably connected to said second power takeoff wherein said second power take-off is utilized as an input to said transmission; a control valve to vary flow rate of hydraulic fluid to said hydraulic motor; said hydraulic motor and said hydraulic pump being mechanically downstream of a connection between an engine and said transmission; said hydraulic motor driving said second power take off and a drive shaft operably connected to said transmission when said transmission is in a neutral position.
