A turbo charger bearing assembly comprising a spacer that comprises an axial through bore, a compressor side surface and a turbine side surface. The compressor side surface faces an outer race of a compressor side rolling element bearing. The turbine side surface faces an outer race of a turbine side rolling element bearing. The spacer further includes a spring that is seated between first and second end caps disposed in part in the axial through bore of the spacer. The spring biases an axially facing surface of the first end cap against the outer race surface of the compressor side rolling element bearing, and the second end cap against the outer race surface of the turbine side rolling element bearing.
