The purpose of the present invention is to provide a rubber composition production method for obtaining a rubber composition that makes it possible to improve the low heat generation properties and the snow performance of a tire. Another purpose of the present invention is to provide a tire having improved low heat generation properties and snow performance. A rubber composition production method according to the present invention is provided with a kneading step in which a rubber composition is kneaded. The rubber composition production method is characterized in that the rubber composition comprises: a rubber component (A) containing 50 mass% or more of natural rubber; 5-50 parts by mass of at least one type of thermoplastic resin (B) with respect to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, said thermoplastic resin (B) being selected from among C5 resins, C5-C9 resins, C9 resins, terpene resins, terpene-aromatic compound resins, rosin resins, dicyclopentadiene resins, and alkylphenol resins; 20-120 parts by mass of a filler (C) with respect to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component, said filler (C) containing silica; at least one vulcanization accelerator (D) selected from among guanidines, sulfonamides, thiazoles, thiourea, and diethyl thiourea; a silane coupling agent (E); and a vulcanizing agent (F). The rubber composition production method is also characterized in that the kneading step includes: a kneading stage A in which the rubber component (A), the thermoplastic resin (B), the filler (C), all or a part of the vulcanization accelerator (D), and 2 parts by mass or more of the silane coupling agent (E) with respect to 100 parts by mass of the rubber component are kneaded; and a kneading stage B in which, after the kneading stage A, the kneaded product prepared by kneading in the kneading stage A is kneaded with the vulcanizing agent (F). |
