A ratchet wrench includes a wrench body (12) and a switch member (16) that is operatively coupled to a gear engaging member (18) so as to be accessible from an exterior of the wrench body. A spring (100) applies a biaising force to the gear engaging member (18) such that the gear engaging member (18) having one or more engaging teeth (106) engages with gear teeth (62) of a torque receiving gear in intermeshed relation. A mounting element (96) mounts the gear engaging member to the switch element. The gear engaging member (18) is pivotally mounted to the mounting element. The pivotal mounting of the gear engaging member (18) enables the gear engaging member (18) to pivot relative to the mounting element (96) as the gear engaging member (18) moves between a first ratcheting position and a second ratcheting position thereof. Also provided is switch securing structure for securing the switch during operation of the ratchet wrench and a method of making the ratchet wrench.
