The coconut shell fraction predominantly comprises hard pieces of non-charred coconut shell. This fraction makes up at least 10 % of the substrate. The substrate also contains a moisture-containing material fraction. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the substrate for growing epiphyte plants, especially orchids.
