METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR AUTOMATIC CONVERTING OF DIGITAL BROADCASTING CHANNEL

A method and an apparatus for automatically changing a digital broadcasting channel are provided to allow a driver to hear radio broadcasting of the same channel in a region to which the driver moves, even though tuning in a radio to the same channel. It is determined whether or not a bit error rate of a broadcasting signal of a current channel frequency is included in a reference bit error rate(S102). The current position and a movement velocity of a vehicle is obtained through position information received from a satellite of which the bit error rate of the current channel frequency is not included in the reference bit error rate(S106). Estimated movement position information of the vehicle is calculated by using the current position and movement velocity of the vehicle(S108). A channel frequency of the same broadcasting signal of a corresponding region is searched from a database based on relay-related data considering the estimated movement position information of the vehicle(S116). The current channel frequency is automatically converted into the channel frequency of the searched broadcasting signal when the broadcasting signal is received(S118).
