Compositions comprising Breu branco essential oil is provided to whiten the skin by inhibiting activity of tyrosinase and melanin formation, improve skin wrinkles by inhibiting activity of collagenase and promoting synthesis of collagen, inhibit obesity and skin oxidation, and minimize cytotoxicity and side effects. A cosmetic, pharmaceutical or food composition for improving skin conditions including skin-whitening, skin wrinkles, skin damage by ultraviolet and hair growth comprises 0.0001-10 wt.% of Breu branco essential oil obtained from Breu branco tree, wherein the cosmetic composition is formulated as solution, suspension, emulsion, paste, gel, cream, lotion, powder, soap, surfactant-containing cleansing, oil, powder foundation, emulsion foundation, wax foundation or spray; and the daily dosage of the composition is 0.1-100 mg/kg for oral formulation or 1.0-3.0 ml for skin external use formulation.
