PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform prechek to prevent a failure of update work or the like caused by a defective sector when program updating or the like which is not a normal operation is carried out. SOLUTION: A hard disk to be checked is divided by partition units, and a partition only for precheck is set. Inside of the set partition only for precheck is read to search for a defective sector.
