PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an algorithm for automatically extracting the bone axes of the femur and tibia. SOLUTION: This method for automatically analyzing a lower limb fluoroscopic image on a computer and automatically extracting the axes of the femur and tibia of the knee joint has: a process C1 for clipping an image region of biotissue from the lower limb fluoroscopic image; a process C2 deriving an image (an absorption image) formed by reversing and transforming the fluoroscopic image clipped by the process C1 and extracting a knee gap line based on the luminance distribution of the absorption image; a process C3 for transforming the absorption image found by the process C2 into an image (a highlighted image) highlighting the bone tissue and finding bone boundary points based on the luminance distribution of the highlighted image and the knee gap line; and a process C4 for setting a bone axis analysis region based on the bone boundary points found by the process C3 and the knee gap line and deriving the bone axis from the bone boundary points in the bone axis analysis region. This method thus automatically extracting the bone axes of the femur and tibia of the knee joint by sequentially executing the processes C1-C4 and automatically calculates the femorotibial angle (FTA).
